Race Simulator for iPhone and iPadRace Simulator is a free app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch that enables you to download race cards, tweak horse and jockey attributes and then run a simulated race. It sounds good and it probably is if you live in Hong Kong, but for the rest of the world it is not quite so useful. However, it won't cost you anything to take a look. The app starts up in Chinese (it could be Japanese, I can't tell), but tapping the spanner icon in the bottom right corner enables you to select English as the language. It makes much more sense! There is a tutorial that explains how most things work and it's worth spending a few minutes running through it.
There isn't a lot of information in the app or in the iTunes store, but it seems to download Hong Kong race cards and then select a race. The race card is displayed and you can see the draw, jockey, ability, distance, condition and running style. You can adjust the last four of these parameters and then you can watch the horses run the race. The race graphics are excellent and the 3D view is really good. It's quite entertaining watching the racing and it's just like watching it on TV. It is just a shame that you can't download UK race cards. Then it would be brilliant.
